The first thing that came to mind for when watching the Washed Up video was the resemblance it had to scaffolding a lesson for students when differentiating instruction. Although it does not align perfectly, the way the different components are introduced and the impact it had on the subjects was powerful, particularly the peer influence. Modeling behavior is so crucial in all settings.
The model providing the six sources of influence provides a framework for my blended learning initiative, something I have been searching for since I started this program. Modeling the blended learning in my classroom and welcoming in my peers to see the lesson as well as having my students share the feedback with their peers can strongly influence the social aspect.
Again, the Washed Up videos mentions just hitting four of the six aspects of the model, however, each component plays a pivotal role accomplishing the end goal. As a very analytical thinker who craves structure, seeing the different stages build upon one another allows me to see how classrooms can make the change from the comfortable direction instruction teacher-driven environment to the perhaps uncomfortable student-driven blended learning environment.
