Media that Engages (EDLD 5317)

Social media has had such an impact on media as a whole, particularly with Tik Tok of late. I am 28 years old and still consider myself a relatively young teacher and typically am up to date with the trends/social media that my high school students are engaged with, however, this was the first one that passes me by.

Instagram, a form of media, was originally based on pictures, however, Tik Tok is now based on short extremely engaging videos take can be about anything! These forms of media know to appeal to the viewer (target audience) and get them to buy in to what they are conveying. They are created to appeal to a specific crowd and often have some sort of grabber at the beginning to draw you in. My target audience for my media project is educators, particularly at the high school level. So many of us were forced into virtual learning during COVID-19, so my grabber is based around speaking to a silent screen and looking for a volunteer and NO ONE ANSWERING!

My attempt to influence reviewers to read my publication will be based around the buzzwords that I know appeal to the audience while reflecting on my own authentic experiences. Viewing are looking for something they can relate to and I feel the best way to do that is by example.
